Exhibition Of Peace Messages By Children In Okinawa

WHO/WHAT: The Okinawan Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum will present an exhibition of posters, poems and essays of students who participated in a contest concerning peace. The concept of the contest, now in its 25th year, is to convey the lessons of the Battle of Okinawa to the next generations, while encouraging students to think of ways to spread peace throughout the world. Testimonies by Military Intelligence Service veterans will also be included, as well as photographs from World War II in Okinawa.

WHEN/WHERE: The works will be on display at the Hawaii Okinawa Center in the Serikaku Chaya (first floor, office building) on Friday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 6 and 7, from 2-5:30 p.m.
