In an effort to promote and perpetuate the Okinawan culture through performing arts, this year’s HUOA 33rd Okinawan Festival will feature mini-workshops in eisa, odori (dance), uta sanshin, koto, taiko (drumming) and shishimai (lion dog dance).

These workshops will vary from demonstrations to hands-on or interactive-type sessions. This is a unique opportunity allowing Festival attendees to learn about an Okinawan art form directly from a performer or sensei.

All workshops will be 30-minutes long, and will take place in the “Ruuchu Ji-no Nu Nare Dukuru” tent throughout the duration of the festival on Sept. 5 and 6.
