OBON WORKSHOP
The Japanese Cultural Society of Maui will offer a free workshop to those who wish to learn about the significance of the obon season and bon dance steps for the upcoming obon festivals.
The workshop will take place from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, at Wailuku Hongwanji Mission Social Hall, 1828 E. Vineyard St.
Sensei Ken Tasaka will be demonstrating the various bon dances. A bento lunch and water is available for purchase for $8.
RSVP is required. Call Priscilla Yamamura at 283-4253 by June 3.

  1. Rissho Kosei-kai Buddhist Church of Hawaii is also having a Bon Dance and service on Oahu. The event is July 10-11, 2015 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm on both days. We will be having Bon dance, food booths, games, rummage sale and ancestor offerings. The group Young Okinawans of Hawaii will be providing music for the ceremony.
