Exhibition of Peace Message By Children in Okinawa

WHO/WHAT: The Okinawa Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum will present an exhibition of drawings, essays and poems of students who participated in a contest concerning peace. The concept of the contest, now in its 24th year, is to convey the lessons of the Battle of Okinawa to the next generations, while encouraging students to think of ways to spread peace throughout the world. Sixty-six works were displayed in Okinawa — 39 will be displayed in Hawai‘i.

WHEN/WHERE: The works will be on display at the Hawaii Okinawa Center in the Serikaku Chaya (first floor, office building) from Wednesday, Jan. 21, to Sunday, Jan. 25. Hours are Jan. 21-23, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Jan. 24 and 25 from 2-5:30 p.m.

ADMISSION is free.
